February 13, 2010 Weigh In: 417 lbs, Lost 0 lbs

Honestly, I'm a little bummed that my weight stayed the same this week. Aside from the Super Bowl party I kept my calories under 2000 per day. I did have two days where I was very close to 2000 calories but most were around 1800. I also thought that working to remove snow after two huge storms would help but apparently it didn't.

This is the first plateau week for me but I'm not going to get discouraged. I know I'm going to face a number of these weeks on the road to 220 lbs and the way I handle this week will be the benchmark for the entire journey.

The one area I've been lacking is exercise. I didn't meet my objective of hitting the treadmill or EA Active every morning before work. I had it programmed as a daily reminder in my Blackberry but when it popped up on the screen I was usually already in work mode and I just hit the dismiss button. I have to get my ass in gear and start moving it.

Also, although I kept my calorie counts under 2000 each day I have been eating after 9:30pm on some nights. Not over eating, but eating light snacks. This ends today. No more eating after 9:30pm. It's #2 of my plan and a very important one. I don't want food laying around in my stomach while I sleep.

I'm going to stay on course, continue to eat healthy foods and keep daily totals at 1800 or less this week.... AND, I'm going move my ass at least 3 times this week. Maybe I need someone like Jack Sh*t or Anti-Jared to kick my ass in this category? Maybe not! I need to develop an "inner asshole guy" who tells me everyday to move my fat ass and burn calories. I'll work on finding him this week.

  1. Hang tough. You may be rewarded with an even larger than usual loss next week. That used to happen all the time to a former Weight Watchers buddy of mine.

  2. Hey, it's ok. Next week is a new week. You look like you've got the right attitude - you're right, more moving about should begin to move the pounds again! And when you find that 'inner asshole guy', could you get him to kick my ass too? Thanks!

  6. Don't get down at all. I had them weeks and come to find out the following week is really showed. So be excited as to what next week will bring. What have you set as your goal this week? for example maybe 2 lbs and 3 day's of exercise.

  7. What you need to work on with your food, is keeping the fat under a certain number. Where do you calculate your calories? Calorieking.com works your calories, carbs, fat and protein out for you. And as long as you keep your fat under 30, you WILL lose weight. I just spend 6 weeks working that out :o)

  8. Okay, you plowed snow. There's your culprit right there. If you can call it a culprit. Shoveling snow is hard cardiovascular work that uses the largest muscles in your body. I'll bet you my next week's weight in that your body built quite a bit of lean muscle mass by doing all that shoveling and in the process lead you not to lose. Therefore I agree with Deb. I'd bet you that next week's weigh in your efforts will show with big numbers or at least decent numbers. Truly!! You're doing good man! Keep it up!! You're an inspiration. Remember that.

  9. Have you considered buying a good pedometer? I find it difficult to find the time to "work out" but I find it a lot easier to keep an occasional eye on the pedometer and make sure I'm headed towards my goal of 10,000 steps a day. Sometimes this requires 10 minutes running on the Wii Fit or a walk around the block, or even my yard, or parking at the far end of the lot at work, but these are all things that can be pretty easily squeezed in over the course of a day.

  10. The snow shoveling might be the explanation, I bet you gained some muscle!

Think of it this way, you maintained your 15 pound weight loss this week! That's an accomplishment, it really is!
